One of my friends is heading up a zine for canon female Transformers characters. I missed out last year because of artist’s block and getting my dates confused, but this year, I was able to get my first piece done and to her in a timely manner. This is the first of hopefully several pieces I’ve done for the zine. The character depicted is MegaEmpress, one of the main females in the Unite Warriors storyline and toyline. She is the leader of a group of female Decepticons, and was made from parts left over from Megatron’s construction.
The reason I have her depicted in a suit is because of a fan concept called RoSuJan, or Robots in Suits January. There’s just something appealing about a person dressed in a nice, pressed suit and tie. Why should humans and humanoid organic beings have all the fun?
This piece was sketched on medium tooth sketchbook paper, photographed on an iPhone 5, and then cleaned up and colored in GIMP. It was completed on 3/13/2017, and the artwork itself is copyright to D.E.A. Grant, while MegaEmpress, Unite Warriors, and Transformers are copyright to Hasbro and Takara.
